Step number one is that YouTube is getting rid of thumbnails, especially on YouTube shorts. So many of you already have been taking away the ability to upload a thumbnail on YouTube shorts. So what does this mean? This means a few things. One, that you need to make sure that you have thumbnail opportunities within your short. This means that there's text on the screen, maybe a crazy face, something going on. Because essentially what YouTube is doing is they're just taking the best moments that they think from the video would be an auto generated thumbnail. They autogenerate it and then they use that thumbnail.

This allows them to do several things. So before you freak out, let's look at the whole picture here. This allows YouTube to do testing. If you only upload one thumbnail, that's all anybody sees. But if YouTube is auto generating thumbnails, it can actually increase your click through rate. It can increase the amount of watch time that you get because YouTube is able to test these things and then they show the best thing, which is exactly why I do think that this is a good move. I know so many people are freaking out about this. I actually do think this is a good thing over the long haul. One, you don't have to spend time creating thumbnails. Two, as long as you create thumbnail opportunities within your videos, you'll still get a lot more views and you're going to get more subscribers while actually doing less work, which personally, I think is a good thing. The actual topic of your content. You guys need to understand something. This might be the most important part of this algorithm update. If you are not actually going after a topic, an audience on YouTube, you're going to get no views, because that is how YouTube actually suggests content. They don't do it based on your past videos. They don't do it based on your future videos. They don't do it based off of all these things that you think they might be doing it off of. They base it off of people's watch history. If there's an audience that has been watching videos about Spiderman and you make a Spiderman video, you will get views on that video. And this goes for anything. Which is exactly why you need to make sure that you're going after the trending topics. To give you a prime example, in Crypto right now, making something about SBF getting arrested, which just happened last night, is going to get a lot of views. The same way that if you've posted about SBF at all in the last 30 days, it has probably gotten a lot of views.

Way too many people spend way too much time doing this, researching everything. And another thing that you could do to prove that these tags really don't matter that much.
If you inspect one of your competitors' videos, you'll see the tags that they use. And I bet it's probably either exactly the same as to what you were about to put or drastically different from what you were about to put, which is exactly what exemplifies the point. The tags really don't matter that much, and you shouldn't be spending all that much time on them. It's a huge mistake if you're doing that.
Instead, you should be focused on the next two things I'm about to share with you, because they're the biggest changes with this new algorithm update, and they're going to lead to you getting more views and more subscribers during, quite frankly, the easiest time ever to grow on YouTube, which is what I want to emphasize right now. You need to understand it is easier to grow on YouTube right now than it ever has been before. If we go back six months ago, it was incredibly hard to grow, especially if you were posting shorts, because shorts weren't really pushed out all that much.
But now shorts are pushed everywhere. They're on the homepage, they're on the shorts feed, they're in the recommendations, they're in the search bar. They literally even show up on laptops now and on TVs. So you need to make sure that you're posting shorts, because if you're not posting shorts, you're out of your mind right now.
How to write YouTube videos Titles?
Which brings me to the second to last tip, which is titles of your videos. Way too many of you mess this up, especially if you're in the motivation niche. I literally see people mess this up every single day, probably a hundred times a day. You need to make sure that whatever keyword you're doing in your video or you're going after, you need to make sure that that shows up in the title. For example, if you do a motivational video and it's a repost of something that Elon Musk said and the title doesn't say Elon Musk, that's why you're not getting views. This goes back to the topic, because YouTube has actually no idea what that video is about. And if you don't tell it what the video is about, then you're not going to get views. But you need to be doing that within the title.
The only time that you could get away from this is if you have a really large audience and is posting about something. I'll give you a prime example. Jake Tran doesn't have to necessarily post whatever the topic is because he makes a thumbnail that's really good with that and his viewers know what to expect from his videos. But odds are if you're watching this video, your audience doesn't know what to expect from you. Which is exactly why you need to make sure that your keywords are in your title and you need to make sure that you're making your titles as short as possible, ideally less than 55 characters, because that's all that's going to show up on YouTube. And you need to be invoking character curiosity, because now that YouTube is getting weird, to thumbnails, one of the biggest factors that decides whether or not somebody's going to watch your video is the title of your video. The title is going to do two things. One, it's going to help you to identify what audience to show the piece of content to so that they can pull it out into the algorithm. And the other thing that it's going to do, it's going to increase the amount of watch time because it's going to foreshadow if you're doing it correctly, something that's going to come later on in the video. And ultimately what that's going to do is increase the amount of views that you're getting, increase the amount of subscribers and ultimately increase the amount of watch time. But this is not it.
There's one last thing that I need to make sure that you're doing and you need to listen up because this is really important and that is that you need to be less focused on the amount of views that you're getting and more focused on community. If you actually look the people that make the most amount of money from YouTube are not the people that get the most views or have the most subscribers, they're actually the people that builds the largest community especially for you.
